Winter sun
Everyone knows the Costa Blanca in summer. But sit on a terrace in Jávea just once in January — jumper on, sun on your face — and you understand why winter guests have been choosing this coast for decades.
The Costa Blanca has one of the mildest winter climates in Europe. In Jávea, afternoon temperatures from November to March typically hover between 16 and 19 degrees, with plenty of sunshine and few rainy days. The Montgó mountain also blocks part of the north wind — the microclimate the area is known for. No tropical heat, but week after week of walking, cycling and terrace weather.

Winter sun is often seen as something for couples. But a group stay outside the season has advantages of its own: prices per person are considerably lower than in summer, the calendar is far emptier, and you have restaurants, beaches and walking trails almost to yourselves. For families who want to spend the festive season together, groups of friends after a long week away or retirees escaping the dark months together, November to March is the smartest choice there is.
Jávea is not a summer resort that closes its shutters in October — it is a real town with an old centre, a harbour and a year-round population. The market, most restaurants and the walking routes around the Montgó and along the miradors run all year round. Only the beach bars on the Arenal take a winter break.
The honest answer: outdoor swimming in January calls for heating. Villa Palmview's saltwater pool can be heated on request outside the season (up to 26 degrees, to be requested at least a week before arrival, surcharge €450 per week). In high season the pool reaches temperature by itself. Ask every winter villa explicitly whether the heating really works — it is a classic source of holiday disappointment.
In the winter months Villa Palmview hosts groups of up to 28, spread across three private wings — with air conditioning and heating, wifi for working partly remotely if needed, and the Arenal within walking distance for the daily coffee walk. Availability is wider outside the season than in summer, but the festive weeks go first.
